The Wardens are pleased to announce that Bishop Riscylla Shaw has appointed the The Reverend Samantha Caravan to be our full-time priest, effective the first Sunday in February, 2019.
Reverend Caravan is coming to All Saints’ from St. John’s West Toronto where she has been the incumbent since 2012. During her time at SJWT the parish has grown in its’ capacity to be to a thriving church community.
Reverend Caravan received a Master of Divinity in 2006 and was ordained in 2010. She also brings the skills and tools of a 25 year corporate career.
She is committed to creative leadership, the inclusion of all people and the priesthood of all believers. She is no stranger to hard work and commitment to community. She specializes in making space for God to breathe new energy and vision into community.
Reverend Caravan very much looks forward to moving to Peterborough, near where some of her family members already reside.
To the people of All Saints’, Reverend Caravan sends this message:
“I am delighted and grateful for this appointment as your next Priest in Charge. I look forward to learning your names, and your life’s circumstances, to worshipping with you, and working together for the sake of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have met with the wardens and I am ready to bring my skills and talents to bear on the good ministry already started, and together with them to build on the more than 140 years of gospel ministry. I am excited about where God will lead us. In the meantime be assured of my prayers, may your Advent be filled with wonder and may Christmas bring a new unveiling of the incarnate God in our midst”.
We are thankful for the work of Pastor Jim Halmarson this past year, especially supporting us as we discerned what God has in store for All Saints’. Pastor Jim will finish his time with us at the end of December. As a celebration of Pastor Jim’s ministry with us we are holding one service on Sunday December 23, 2018 at 10:00am, followed by a light luncheon in the Parish Hall.
We wish to extend our thanks to the Discernment Group who met and supported this process over the summer. We are also thankful for the continued and ongoing support of Bishop Riscylla as we move forward at All Saints’.
Let us hold both Pastor Jim and Reverend Caravan up in prayer, in appreciation for their leadership in God’s work here at All Saints’ and in the wider community.
