Holy Matrimony/Weddings
The sacrament of holy matrimony is well known. The church believes that marriage is part of God's purpose for mankind and that in a lifelong community of self-giving love, human sexuality reflects the mystery of divine love. The ideal environment for the nurture of children is a family where the husband and wife give themselves to each other in love.
The church tries to provide careful pastoral preparation for marriage. In human terms a church wedding affirms the permanence and fullness of the commitment, and the completeness of the mutual giving and sharing. In sacramental terms the marriage, which of course continues long after the wedding ceremony, is a sign of the divine self-giving love and is sustained by that love. The wedding is supported by the love and prayers of the Christian community, which in turn benefits from the renewing experience of being reminded of the vows, standards, and blessings of Christian marriage. If possible, a wedding should take place in the context of the Eucharist.
The Celebration and Blessing of your Marriage will be something you will remeber forever. We hope All Saints' will provide everything you need to make your wedding ceremony a truly memorable event. Throughout this preparation time try to remember it's a "marriage" we are celebrating, not simply the wedding itself.everything we can to make your wedding ceremony a truly memorable event.
Every blessing to you both,
The Reverend Bill Gray, Rector
There are a few things you need to know about weddings at All Saints'. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask (705-876-1501):
Decorations, Flowers, and Preparation of the Sanctuary.
The members of the Chancel Guild prepare the Church for a wedding, and as well, see that your flowers are suitably placed in the Sanctuary.
White Bows for the pews are supplied by the Church. If you wish flowers rather than white bows to mark the pews reserved for your guests, these must be supplied by you. Also, if you wish to use the candelabra or the Nave torches, there will be an additional cost.
Arrangements can be made by calling the Church Offcie at (705) 876-1501.
Photographs:
Pictures may be taken during the signing of the register and as the bridal party arrives and leaves the church. PLEASE NO FLASH PICTURES ARE TO BE TAKEN IN THE CHURCH ONCE THE SERVICE HAS BEGUN .
Video Taping: Video taping of the service is permissible, as long as the camera person remains in a fixed spot during the service.
Confetti. We do ask the co-operation of the wedding party and guests in not throwing any confetti in or about the Church buildings.
Music
The governing principle for the selection of music must be the same as for every service of worship, namely, that the music be to the praise and glory of Almighty God.
You should contact the organist, as soon as the date for your wedding is set. This will ensure that his services will be available to you. He will be pleased to advise you in the selection of music suitable for your wedding. Our organist Giles Bryant can be reached most Thursdays in the Church Office at (705) 876-1501.
It is usually desirable for you to meet with him to select the organ music, if you wish.
