This group of ladies, about 40 active members, meet monthly. Meetings are held in the afternoons. Sometimes we have a speaker, but very often we have a pot luck dinner or picnic. All dates are announced in the church weekly bulletin in advance. We consider all ladies of the parish to be members and invite all to join in our times of great fellowship.
Easter Egg Project
Our biggest project is the making of Easter Eggs, which we have been doing for over 35 years. The eggs are fondant filled, using real butter and other wholesome ingredients - then molded in 4 ounce eggs, dipped in chocolate. Each is decorated by hand - the colour of the flower thereon indicates the flavor. Vanilla - blue, Maple Walnut - yellow, Chocolate - orange, Cherry - pink, and Coconut - mauve. These eggs sell for $3.00 each and are available at the church or from the Home Hardware stores on Lansdowne and Simcoe Streets.This production takes place in our Parish Hall kitchen on Monday to Thursday mornings for the five weeks prior to Easter. The most eggs made in one year was 9,000.
Catering
We pride ourselves in the fact that we are able to cater for funeral receptions for members of our parish who have passed on. We also cater for a variety of other church functions.
Use of our funds
The profits of our endeavors are used to assist in the funding of activities and purchaces for our parish as well as to help those less fortunate than ourselves. Our outreach programs include both local and distant locations. Just to name a few: Salvation Army Christmas Hamper Fund, C.N.I.B., Bible Society, Five Counties Children's Center, Brock Mission, Cameron House, Telecare Peterborough, Good Neighbors Care Center, Church Army. Meals on Wheels, Cross Roads, Youth Centre, St. Georges EMO, Peterborough Community, Diocese of Keewatin, Invitation to Live.
The Toronto diocesan A.C.W. also shares in our giving's - to help them with their many projects.
